Wild Landscapes

On my way further down south, I came through some very remote and wild landscapes. Along the longer part of the way only grassland or bushes lined up with the street. It must be a very difficult trip for the first settlers to travel through these terrain’s – without modern navigation systems or freeways, that make traveling comfortable these days. Those travelers only had – I guess – rather rough descriptions of landmarks, such as the “Pilot Butte” a characteristic table mountain on top of Read More +

Time to Move On

On request by one of the readers of this blog, I am posting a bad weather picture for those who had to stay home. Of course, that particular day was anyway dedicated to traveling a bit southwards as my finally 5 days and nights at West Yellowstone did come to an end. The extension of 1 day to my original plan just was fitting right. While I was used to people stopping their car anywhere in the Yellowstone National Park to observe some animals, typically Read More +

A long Drive

Todays goal was to get to West Yellowstone, where a nice hotel waits for me to host me for the next 4 days. Around 500 km had to be left behind. As there was relative little traffic, that did not sound too complicated. And the weather created a beautiful scenery, such that driving was a pleasure. Thanks to Sirius, a satellite radio service, the acoustic entertainment was fine too.

Welcome – or Not

Arriving a Chicago one is greeted with big welcome signs. That this ends up in a huge social event one recognizes rather quickly a few meters further. Looking at the impressive Queue in front of the immigration desk, immediately made me calculating the approximate waiting time and comparing that with my transfer window. Ok, it should fit in. But that massive certainly would take an hour to be processed. It looks like I was even too optimistic and it took a bit more than one Read More +

Easy Flying – Nice Service

Looks like flying has become less of an art than in the old days. Kind of “just follow the yellow line” navigation brings me safely to my stop over at Chicago. Reading some old, left over, editions of c’t and watching a movie or too, the time passes rather quickly. Your browser does not support the video tag

A Great Day for Traveling

Kind if perfect timing – my plane is scheduled around noon – a really beautiful autumn weather promises a nice and relaxing flight. So far I enjoyed a pleasant trip to the airport, an efficient self checkin without any queuing and a couple of well behaving security officers. Looks like the plane is already at Zürich, so the departure should be on time. The next eight hours or so will be dedicated ti some reading. A good time ti catch up on some journals that Read More +

Getting Ready

The countdown is running, slowly, but steadily. So its about time to get all the stuff collected and packed. As usual, the suitcase fills quickly and its always a challenge to get it packed within the weight limit. I am sure I just managed to hold the limit as I forgot half of what I will need.
